Sunayna Smith

Sunayna "sue-nay-nah" Smith (she/they) is a Pittsburgh native currently living and dreaming in New York City. Her love for the arts came at 8 years old when she performed in her first musical at a performing arts summer camp where the nickname Sunny was born.

Growing up with doctors for parents, she was involved in a myriad of extracurriculars from soccer, piano, marching band, softball....the list goes on. Senior year of high school, you could find Sunayna running from the student parking lot where marching band practice was to play varsity soccer while balancing a full course schedule. However, with dedicated faculty in the arts programs she attended, the pursuit of theatre as a career became clear as day. At Kent State, she performed in undergraduate productions, created a petition to change the curriculum with the Black Theatre Association, and even got to participate in the Disney College Program. After graduation, Sunayna spent two years traveling across the world with Norwegian Cruise Lines most notably in Six The Musical. She is a member of Actors Equity.

When not performing, Sunayna juggles being the long distance eldest daughter while oversharing on her Instagram story. She is most passionate about the POC theatre community and hopes to inspire young Black and South Asians to pursue their dreams no matter the barriers built against them. She would be nowhere without the love of her mother, father, and little brother.
